Kangaroo Eugenia [1] , or philander Eugenia [2] , or kangaroo lady [2] , or kangaroo Derby [2] , or tamnar [2] ( lat. Macropus eugenii ) - a small mammal of the kangaroo family. The species epithet is given by the name of the island ( Ile Eugene ), on which animals were first discovered.

DescriptionAnimals have sexual dimorphism ; males are larger and heavier than females. The body length of males is 59–68 cm, females are 52–63 cm, the growth of males and females is 45 cm, the length of the tail for males is 38–45 cm, for females is 33–44 cm, the weight of males is 9.1 kg, females - about 7 kg. The color of the fur below is light gray, the top is dark gray, red on the sides. Kangaroos have big ears and a small head.
DistributionKangaroo Eugenia is a very rare animal. Lives in some southern regions of Eastern and Western Australia, mainly located in nature reserves.
LifestyleKangaroos live in groups of up to 50 individuals. Males fight each other for a leader in the group. The area occupied by the group of the territory is 100 ha. Lead a nocturnal lifestyle . They feed on plant foods.
ReproductionPregnancy lasts 25-28 days. In January, one cub appears who lives in her mother’s bag for 8 to 9 months. At the age of one year to two years, he becomes sexually mature.
