Cape Point, along with the Cape of Good Hope , is the southern tip of the Cape Peninsula . The cape is located east of the Cape of Good Hope and south of Cape Town . Administratively refers to the Western Cape .
Opened in 1488 with the cape of Good Hope by the Portuguese navigator Bartolomeu Dias . [2] [3]
The coastline east of Cape Point abruptly turns north , forming False Bay , on the opposite bank of which is the village of Pringle Bay .
On the cape is a lighthouse built in 1857 . [four]
From Cape Point to Cape Town , the Peninsula Ultra Fun Run is a traditional cross-country race . Its length is about 80 km , the competition combines elements of cross - country and mountain running . [5]
