Biography
Born May 9, 1920 in the family of a doctor. Graduated from the University of Havana . From the beginning of the 1950s, she joined the political struggle against the regime of R. F. Batista , was the founder of the organization of the Movement on July 26 in Manzanillo . March 19, 1957 joined the ranks of the Rebel Army, took part in the attack on the Uvero barracks. She trained in the province of Oriente to land a group of revolutionaries led by F. Castro from the Granma yacht , then, together with Frank Pais, organized the first reinforcements sent to the partisans in Sierra Maestra . Fought in the mountains of the Sierra Maestra, served as a liaison, was the secretary of the General Staff of the Rebel Army.
After the victory of the Revolution, she worked in the secretariat of the Presidium of the Council of Ministers of Cuba, in the structures of the State Council of Cuba. Member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba . In 1980, she died of lung cancer .
Memory
- A textile mill in Santiago de Cuba is named after Celia Sanchez Mandoulei.
