Fight with Chazz Witherspoon
In April 2012 , Mitchell met his second serious rival, compatriot Chazz Witherspoon in the fight for the vacant WBO NABO world champion title. The battle began actively. From the second half of the first round, Witherspoon began to attack Mitchell hard, and looked more confident. The first round came out with Witherspoon's advantage. On July 14, 2012, a battle was planned with the American Jonathon Banks . However, Mitchell was injured and the fight was canceled. [4] [5]
Fight with Jonathon Banks I
The battle was originally scheduled for July 14, then September 15. After that on October 6th. But Seth Mitchell was injured again, and the match was postponed for the fourth time. This time, on November 17th [6] . On November 17, 2012, the long-awaited duel of Jonathon Banks (28-1-1), with an undefeated prospect, an American, Seth Mitchell (25-0-1), took place. The last 10 fights, Mitchell won by knockout in the early rounds, although his rivals were quite strong and promising boxers. Banks once had a defeat in a champion fight in the first heavyweight. In 2010, he had a draw with Jornimen, and the last defense of the title of champion of North America held against the boxer of the second tier, which he won only on points. In addition, Banks prepared for the battle, Vladimir Klitschko , who took place just a week before his own, and Banks' level of training was doubtful, and given these facts, the forecasts were even more inclined to Seth Mitchell's victory. At stake were the WBO NABO titles held by Mitchell, the vacant WBC international world title , and the fight also had the status of a semi-final WBC qualifier. Mitchell’s win ratio was 1.3. Banks won 4.8.
The battle began actively. Mitchell acted first number, and stepped on Banks . Jonathan tried to retreat, but Seth often got him, going into close range. The first round remained unconditionally for Mitchell, who hit more often, and was more active. The second round began with the control of a long distance. Boxers held each other with jabs. In the second minute, Right Mitchall just hit the Banks corps, after that, Mitchall immediately rushed into the close range, and began to deliver sweeping strikes. Banks cleverly dodged them, and caught Mitchell with a counterattack, and then, in a long series, unexpectedly knocked Mitchell down. After the knockdown, Seth tried to escape in clinches, but Banks again sent Mitchell a long series of canvases. Mitchell did not expect a shock, and went for a bargain, instead of adopting defense tactics. At the end of the second round, Banks shocked Mitchell for the third time, after which the referee stopped the match. Banks made a sensation, and became one of the main contenders for the WBC world title [7] .
Fight with Jonathon Banks II
After Mitchell's unexpected loss, Seth decided to recover and hold several intermediate fights, but Banks agreed to give a rematch, which took place on June 22, 2013.
The fight was held with very little activity of both rivals, which caused dissatisfaction of the audience - they accompanied most of the battle with an unhappy whistle and shouts. In round 2, Banks shocked Mitchell several times, but did not force events and increase pressure, which allowed Mitchell to stand on his feet until the end of the round. In round 3, Banks were knocked down after hitting the back of the head, the judge considered the strike legal and counted 8 seconds. In the remaining time, the fighters did not take any active actions, which caused a puzzled reaction of boxing analysts and suspicions of the not entirely honest nature of the rivalry.
Fight Chris Arreola
On September 7, 2013, Mitchell entered the ring with an aggressive puncher, Chris Arrela . From the first round, Chris applied exact combinations to Mitchell's head, after which Seth tried to enter the clinch and only this saved him from knockdown. In the next attack, Chris knocked Seth, and by the end of the first round, a powerful combination forced the referee to stop the fight. Mitchell lost and suffered a second defeat in the professional ring.
