PRO ARTE

The PRO ARTE Foundation is a St. Petersburg charity foundation of culture and art. PRO ARTE is a non-profit, non-governmental organization established in 1999. The activities of the Foundation are related to the study and promotion of cultural and art phenomena of the XX-XXI centuries. The main areas of work: visual arts, modern music, modern architecture, cultural journalism, design. The Foundation supports projects of Russian artists and organizations, organizes exhibitions, festivals, concerts, conferences and lectures, and also implements training programs for young artists, journalists, designers.

Content

Visual arts

The Visual Arts program, which has existed since the foundation of the PRO ARTE Foundation, is aimed at supporting and developing contemporary Russian art in an international context. The Foundation supports projects of Russian artists and organizations, and also holds exhibitions, festivals, lectures and conferences. The program hosts the annual international festival “Contemporary Art in the Traditional Museum”, the educational project “School of the Young Artist” is being implemented, exhibitions are being organized in collaboration with museums and other cultural organizations in St. Petersburg, Moscow and other Russian cities. Since 2012, a number of projects have been carried out in cooperation with the North-West branch of the National Center for Contemporary Arts.

Curriculum "School of the Young Artist"

The curriculum “School of the Young Artist” is addressed to young practicing artists, art students and activists in the field of modern art. Training lasts 1.5 years. The “School of the Young Artist” program was organized by the PRO ARTE Foundation and, since 2012, has been conducted jointly with the North-Western Branch of the NCCA with the support of the Mikhail Prokhorov Foundation.

Festival "Contemporary Art in a Traditional Museum"

“Contemporary Art in a Traditional Museum” is an annual festival of contemporary art. Festival exhibitions are held throughout the month in large and small museums of St. Petersburg.

Projects with the Hermitage

Since 1999, the PRO ARTE Foundation has been cooperating with the Hermitage, organizing exhibitions, conferences, concerts and other events dedicated to the history of art of the 20th century and the newest art.

Music

The musical program "PRO ARTE" exists since 2000. Its main focus is the eNsemble project: an ensemble of modern academic music.

“Step Left” composer competition

“Step to the left” is a composer competition for young people, held annually since 2008. The purpose of the competition is to develop innovative music thinking and culture of ensemble writing.

"Pythian Games"

“Pythian Games” is a concert and competition project dedicated to the latest Russian music. This is a cycle of annual concert-competitions in which composers and musicians compete.

Architecture

The “Modern Architecture” program has been implemented by the PRO ARTE Foundation since 2004. Since then, more than 100 leading Russian and foreign architects have delivered lectures, participated in international conferences, discussions and exhibitions.

Architecture Biennale of St. Petersburg

Biennale "Architecture of St. Petersburg" is held on the initiative and with the support of the Association of architectural workshops of St. Petersburg since 2007.

"Listening to architecture, writing spaces"

The partner project of the St. Petersburg Foundation for Culture and Art “PRO ARTE”, CUMULUS - CUMULUS International Association of Universities and Colleges of Art, Design and Media (Finland) and the Danish Cultural Institute. Supported by the European Union.

Design

Since 2010, the PRO ARTE Foundation together with the Faculty of Arts of St. Petersburg State University has been conducting a special course on museum design.

Museum Design Training Course

A special course on museum design is a joint project of PRO ARTE Petersburg Charitable Foundation of Culture and Art and the Faculty of Arts of St. Petersburg State University. The program is carried out in St. Petersburg with the participation of the State Hermitage Museum, the State Museum of History of St. Petersburg, the Central Museum of Communications named after A. Popov. The program has been running since 2010.

Journalism

The School of Cultural Journalism has existed since 2002. Cultural journalism curricula are designed for aspiring journalists (under 30) who write about culture, as well as for those who want to practice journalism in the field of culture (radio, print media).
