Biography
Ian Mortenson was born into a military family in Uppsala. In 1960 he graduated from Uppsala University Law School. In the same year he began working at the Swedish Foreign Ministry . From 1961 to 1963, he was an attache at the Swedish embassy in Brazil. Later, Mortenson held various government and diplomatic posts in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Agriculture and the United Nations . In the 1970s, he was private secretary and head of the press service of King Carl XVI Gustav , from 1993 to 1996 he served as Swedish ambassador to Switzerland. Since 1996 he has been working again at the UN.
He was a member of the editorial board of the journal "Detective and Politics".
Creativity
Since the early 1970s, Jan Mortenson has also been involved in literary activities. He is the author of more than 50 detective novels. The most famous is his series of novels about Stockholm antiquary and amateur detective Juhan Human.
