Embrace is an American post-hardcore band from Washington , founded by renowned DIY punk musician and producer Jan Mackay . The group existed from the summer of 1985 to the spring of 1986, but had a great influence on the emo core and hardcore punk scene. The vocalist of the group was Mackay himself, and the other three members were former members of The Faith - guitarist Michael Hampton, drummer Ivor Hanson, and bass player Chris Bald [1] . Hampto and Hanson were previously members of the Henry Rollins SOA group [2] . Of the recorded releases, the group has only one Embrace album , which was released after the band disbanded on Mackay’s own label Dischord Records [1] .
