History

Qom existed long before the adoption of Islam. Archaeological finds date back to the fifth millennium BC. Even in pre-Islamic times, Qom was a big city.

The second caliph Omar occupied the center of Qom. In 644 - 645, Abu Musa Ashgari controlled Qom, in which conflicts broke out between the Arabs and the local population.

Kum was the place where the Alawids hid from persecution by the ruling caliphs. Caliph Al-Mamun stormed Qom in 825 , defeated a city with many victims.

In 831, the inhabitants of Qom rebelled, the uprising was severely crushed. Only during the Buid dynasty did the representatives of the Alavids gain power in the region, and Qom began to flourish.
