History

XIX century

It was founded in 1833 on state lands [8] [9] . The area occupied by the village was formerly called “Drachevka”, since there were often fights between Russians and Kalmyks, because the latter stole cattle from local peasants. At the end of the 1820s, a Sotnikova farm appeared on this territory - a peasant from the village of Praskoveya , from whose surname the village formed from the farm got its name [10] [11] . Also, the village is known as the settlement of Sotnikov, Pyatigorsk district. And it was considered a settlement in the village of Blagodatny, Pyatigorsk district [12] . He was part of the Medvedsky volost of Pyatigorsk / Novogrigoryevsky district of the Stavropol province [13] [14] [15] .

The settlement was populated by immigrants from the Voronezh, Poltava provinces, Chernihiv, Mogilev, Vladimir, Voronezh and Stavropol provinces and other provinces [16] . In particular, its population was composed of migrants from the Tambov province, Borisoglebsky district from the village of Polyana [17] and Rusanovo , from the Kharkov province of Lebedinsky district of the Aleshan volost [18] and neighboring villages from Alyoshnaya ( Chupakhovka , Dolzhik (Dovzhik), Martynovka , Rassokhovatoe ) [19] , and since 1847 - 178 residents of the Zmievsky district of the Liman volost of the Kharkov province [20] . Before settling in Sotnikovskoye, many immigrants first lived in Burlatsky [21] [22] . By the beginning of the 1850s, the number of inhabitants of the settlement, located 30 miles from the Blagodarny, was 662 people [23] .

On November 29, 1852, the governor-general in the Caucasus , the Novorossiysk and Bessarabian Governor-General M. S. Vorontsov allowed “Sotnikov settlement, in which there are enough souls to compose society, to expel as separate society from the village of Blagodarny with its name as Sotnikov and included in its composition Burlatsky settlement ”. At the same time, Sotnikov remained under the jurisdiction of Medvedsky volost [12] [24] [25] .

Natives of Sotnikovsky took part in the Crimean (1853-1856) and Russian-Turkish wars (1877-1878) . Among them were awarded the honorary badge of the Military Order of 4 degrees and other state awards of the Russian Empire, including the medal "In memory of the Russian-Turkish War of 1877-1878" : platoon non-commissioned officer I. S. Shakin ( 17th Seversky Dragoon Regiment ); Senior Non-Commissioned Officer A. S. Krutko ( Baku 153rd Infantry Regiment ); Corporal M. Ya. Zaichenko ( 2nd Caucasian Rifle Battalion ); Private I. I. Ivannikov ( 13th Erivan Life Grenadier Regiment ), M. G. Yashchenko (17th Grenadier Regiment), P. M. Zelinsky (2nd Caucasian Rifle Battalion), etc. [26] .

In 1892, an outbreak of cholera occurred in the village, killing 133 people. At that time, there was no doctor, paramedic, or pharmacy in Sotnikovsky [27] .

In 1896-1898, in the village of Sotnikovsky in the Novogrigoryevsky district of the Stavropol province, from commercial and industrial establishments there were: 2 oil mills, 4 forges, 2 sheep-breeding workshops, 5 grain barns, 3 taverns, 11 shops [28] .

XX century

Sotnikovites took an active part in the revolutionary movement of 1905-1907 . In 1905, one of the first organizations in the Stavropol province of the All-Russian Peasant Union - the Sotnikovsky Peasant Committee, uniting 300 local residents was formed in the village. Illegal gatherings took place in the home of F. S. Tuchin [29] .

As of 1917, the village had a zemstvo school, a children's hospital, a veterinary paramedic station, a food committee workshop, a public consumer's shop, an apartment for travelers, a church in honor of St. Michael the Archangel [30] .

The villagers supported the victory of the October Revolution and the proclamation of Soviet power in the Stavropol province in January 1918 [29] . In September – December of the same year, the Executive Committee of the Stavropol Provincial Council of Workers, Peasants and Red Army Deputies (executive committee) [29] [31] was in Sotnikovsky, at one of the meetings of which the creation of the provincial emergency commission to combat counter-revolution under the Cheka was approved [32 ] [33] . In November, a provincial food congress was held in the village [29] .

At the beginning of 1918, the Civil War began in the Stavropol Territory [31] . To keep the power of the Soviets in the region in January of the same year, the Stavropol Provincial Military Committee issued an order to start the organization of red detachments [32] . The villages of Ternovskoye and Konstantinovskoye each allocated 500 volunteers from the local population, Sotnikovskoye - 400 people, Alexandria - 340 people, Burlatskoye - 150 people, Spasskoye - 120 people. In addition, a military headquarters was organized to lead all units [34] . By the end of August 1918, units of the villages of Blagodarny, Sotnikovsky, Vegetables , Serafimovka , Kazgulak and some other settlements formed two squadrons [32] . Under the leadership of the Stavropol Provincial Executive Committee, 4 divisions — 3 infantry and one cavalry — were created from the Red Guard partisan detachments. The units of the southern part of Blagodarnensk district entered the 1st Stavropol Soviet infantry division, called the Fighter. In particular, the 3rd Stavropol Soviet Regiment under the command of the centurion F. S. Tuchin was part of this division [35] .

During the Civil War, after the Red Army left the Stavropol province, the White Guards executed 30 residents of Sotnikovsky who supported the Soviet regime [29] . The list of those executed in the village of Sotnikovsky in the State Archives of the Stavropol Territory (GASK), stored in 1919, states that 28 of them (participants in the revolutionary movement of 1905, Red Army soldiers, sailors, etc., most of whom were members of the volost executive committee ) were shot by the “white gang” and another 8 (rural policemen and other “participants in the restoration of Soviet power”) - by the “Canary gang” (Yesaul L. Konarev [36] ) [37] . These events, in particular, are reflected in the memoirs of the red commander of the red commander F. S. Tuchin, whose family members became victims of the “ white terror ” [38] , in the article “Under the drunken revelry of the white gang”, published in the peasant newspaper of the Stavropol District “Power of Soviets "For July 6, 1927 [39] , and in 2010 were described by historian V. M. Zabelin:

Denikintsy entered the village of Sotnikovskoye on January 7, 1919. They shot everyone who came in their way. The first to fall were three random passers-by. The rest of the population was forced to hide. The prison is crowded. No one came to the announced mobilization. In the marketplace, the foreman and the officer hastily erected a gallows. The torn corpses were thrown down here. They were taken away by dogs, which were forbidden to drive away. The punitive detachment shot one after another: pregnant Olga Tuchina ... [wife of F. S. Tuchin], teacher Vasily Mikhailovich Skvortsov and others.

- V. M. Zabelin “Blagodarnensky district - through the test of time” [40]

The wounded soldiers of the Red Army stationed in the Sotnikovskaya district hospital were ordered to be sent to a concentration camp, but they were able to save the head physician of the hospital A.
