Fight with Derrick Jefferson
An interesting confrontation was in November 1999 , where Derrick Jefferson met with Maurice Harris. Both opponents took an open fighting style, so the duel turned out to be spectacular. In the middle of the 2nd round, Jefferson with a left hook hit right on the opponent's jaw. Harris immediately fell. He got to the count of 9. Jefferson tried to finish off the enemy, but Harris went into a dead defense. Nevertheless, 50 seconds before the end of the round, Jefferson struck the left uppercut on the opponent's jaw. Harris was back on the floor. He got to the count of 7. Jefferson again rushed to finish, but missed the oncoming right cross from Harris and he was knocked down. He immediately got up. The ending of the round was a mutual exchange of strokes. A minute before the end of the 6th round, Harris stagnated at the ropes. Jefferson, taking advantage of the moment, broke a left hook into the jaw and added a few more blows to the body. The exhausted Harris fell to the floor. He got into account 9. Jefferson wanted to finish, but Harris suddenly went on the attack. At the very end of the round, Harris missed a powerful counter left hook, from which he burst out of his mouth, and he was in a deep knockout. Referee Steve Smoger stopped the fight without opening an account. “Derrick Jefferson, I love you!” (Derrick Jefferson, I love you!) Shouted HBO commentator Larry Merchant. The fight received the status of “knockout of the year” according to the magazine “Ring”.
