Biography

Born in the family of teacher Strugovshchikov Stepan Borisovich . In 1795 he began serving as a clerk in the State Borrowing Bank, where he served until January 1797. On December 31 of the same year he was appointed to the 3rd Department of the Senate, where he served with a short break (January 1798 - March 1800 - transfer to the 1st Department of the Senate) until March 9, 1805.

From March 16, 1806 to October 29, 1810, he was an employee of the St. Petersburg Library , where he was engaged in disassembling books and preparing the Library for opening. In 1810, in connection with the introduction of the new state, he was expelled from the service "without pension, as a wealthy man."

Since 1818 he was the ruler of the office of the Department of Foreign Trade, taking this position "with good knowledge" of French and German.

He had the rank of court adviser (1805).

Creativity

Alexander Stepanovich was engaged in literary translation, began to publish in 1793. He was also published in magazines, as well as small original literary works - miniatures, in particular, in Petersburg Mercury (1793).
