Located on the Sinyazh River, 23 km from the district center and 10 km from the Kachelai railway station. It arose at the turn of the 13th - 14th centuries. like the village of Survele (literally "Prisurskaya village"). At the beginning of the 18th century when dividing the lands along the river Sura and Nerleika, the Kochkurov Mordvin Arkashka Sabaev got the name of Sabaevo. In the “List of Populated Places of the Simbirsk Province” (1863), Sabaevo has a specific village of 219 households (2,012 people) in the Karsun district. At the end of the 19th century, a wooden Church of the Exaltation of the Cross was built (not preserved) and a school in which A.P. Lavrovskaya worked for more than 50 years. Every year on May 9 a fair was held, every Friday a bazaar. In 1913, the village had 627 yards (4,575 people), in 1930 - 743 (4,111). A collective farm was created to them. Lenin, since 1996 - SEC “Survele”. In a modern village - a secondary school, a library, a cultural center, several shops, a post office; on the territory of the village administration - forestry, a dairy complex, the Sura camp site, children's health camps. Near Sabaevo is a Bronze Age settlement and Erzyan burial ground of the 17th and 18th centuries. The Sabaevsky rural administration includes the village of Maidan (24 people) and Penkozavod (77 people).
