Karen Moncrieff ( born 1963 ) is an American actress, film director, screenwriter and producer, whose debut film Blue Taxi [1] was first shown at the Sundance Festival in 2002 and was immediately acquired by Miramax for hire. After participating in a number of major film festivals (in Toronto, London, Deauville, Montreal), the film received the most flattering critical reviews and earned two Independent Spirit Award nominations , and Moncriff herself was named the influential film publishing house Variety among the 10 best screenwriters of 2002. In 2006, the US released her second film, the drama Dead Girl .

Biography
Karen Moncriff studied at Northwestern University , as well as at Los Angeles City College . Before starting work on television and cinema, she participated in beauty contests. In 1985, she became Miss Illinois. [2] Her husband is producer Eric Carten, they have a daughter, Ruby, who was born in the fall of 2005 [3] .
