Salam Khatipovich Alishev ( March 20, 1929 , Shcherben , TASSR - June 23, 2015 , Kazan ) is a Soviet and Russian historian , a specialist in the history of the Tatars and other peoples of the Middle Volga. Doctor of Historical Sciences.

Biography
Alishev’s ancestors founded the villages of Old Almetyevo and New Almetyevo in the Nurlat region of Tatarstan .
After graduating from the History Department of the Kazan Pedagogical Institute in 1951, he worked as a teacher, head teacher , director of a secondary school in Laishevsky District , then as head of the education department of the Verkhneuslonsky District [2] .
He entered the graduate school of the Ibragimov Institute of Language, Literature and Art in 1963. After graduate school, he remained at the institute, went the way to the head of the department of history [3] .
In 1968, at the V. I. Ulyanov-Lenin Kazan State University, he defended his thesis for the degree of candidate of historical sciences on the topic “Participation of the Tatars of the Middle Volga in the peasant war of 1773-1775. under the leadership of E. I. Pugachev " [4] .
In 1989, at the Institute of History of the USSR Academy of Sciences of the USSR, he defended his thesis for the degree of Doctor of Historical Sciences on the topic “The Middle Volga in the 16th – first half of the 19th centuries: (On the progressive nature of the life of peoples together”) (specialty 07.00.02 - USSR History) [5] .
Chief Researcher, Department of Medieval History, Institute of History named after Shigabutdin Marjani, Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Tatarstan since 1998 [6] .
