Biography
Born in the city of Bolkhov, Oryol region in a working class family.
On the fronts of World War II
In the Red Army since January 18, 1942, after leaving the home as a volunteer at the age of 16. As part of the 912th (from October 30, 1943 - 313rd Guards) artillery regiment in the positions of gun numbers and gunner on the Western, Bryansk, Belorussian and 1st Ukrainian fronts. Participated in the Oryol, Bryansk, Gomel-Rechitsa, Rivne-Lutsk, Lviv-Sandomir, Wislo-Oder, Berlin and Prague offensive operations.
Feat
Particularly distinguished himself in the Wisla-Oder operation. On January 27, 1945, along with his calculation, crossed the Oder in the area of the Köben settlement (now Khobenia, north of the city of Scinava, Lubinsky County, Lower Silesian Voivodeship, Poland), he fought with a counterattacking enemy. He contributed to the retention and expansion of the bridgehead, destroying enemy firing points and concentrations of manpower. With the support of the gunners, three counterattacks of the enemy were reflected, which as a result suffered significant losses. 1 tank, 2 armored personnel carriers, 5 firing points, over 40 soldiers and officers were destroyed. After the use of ammunition, the calculation of I.S. Estin continued to destroy the enemy in hand-to-hand combat, without retreating from his position.
For the courage and heroism shown, he was awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union.
After the war
After the war, he continued to serve in the Armed Forces of the USSR. Since 1960 - in stock, with the rank of foreman. He lived in the city of Bolkhov, Oryol region. After being transferred to the reserve, he worked as the deputy chief physician of the central district hospital for the administrative part, and later in the district sanitary and epidemiological station. He died on November 19, 2006 [3] .
