Biography
He studied at the theological seminary. He dropped out of the Seminary in 1915 and at the age of 18 he volunteered for the front. He graduated in the same year from the Mikhailovsky Artillery School .
Commanded a battalion. The revolution found him second lieutenant . In 1918 - Inspector of Vsevobuch .
Upon returning from the front to Penza, he was accused with other officers of "conspiracy" and sentenced to death. Praying fervently, awaiting execution, he vowed to go to the priests, if the Lord would save his life. In the morning he was announced to replace the execution with a long-term imprisonment.
Once free, he received the priesthood in 1919. His ordained archbishop John (Pommer) .
In 1919-1927 he served in rural churches near Penza. Arrested in 1924, soon released.
From the beginning of 1927 he lived in Leningrad , studied at the Theological and Pastoral School, and then at the Higher Theological Courses (until July 1928). He served in the church of Lavra Kinovii.
In 1928-1929, rector of the Church of St. Alexander Oshevensky on Piskaryovka. Joseph , was the secretary of Bishop Demetrius (Lyubimov) .
Arrested on November 28, 1929; by a resolution of the OGPU Board of August 3, 1930, under article 58 10, 11 of the Criminal Code of the RSFSR, he was sentenced to VMN; Shot on August 21, 1930 [3] . Rehabilitated October 2, 1989 [3] .
Canonized by the Russian Orthodox Church Abroad in 1981.
