Algemene bank nederland

Algemene Bank Nederland is the now defunct commercial bank of the Netherlands . The bank was founded in October 1964 as a result of the merger of Twentsche Bank and Nederlandsche Handel-Maatschappij. Subsequently absorbed several large banks. In 1991, ABN AMRO was formed through the merger of Algemene Bank Nederland and AMRO Bank .

Activities

The Bank carried out a wide range of banking operations: from providing short-term and long-term loans to intermediation in insurance operations , leasing , factoring , etc. The Bank was associated with the main industries of the Netherlands and other countries, with oil and diamond trade. The Bank was a member of the ABECOR multinational banking group and a shareholder (11% of the capital) of the multinational holding company Banque de la Société Financière Européenne (Luxembourg).

During 1970-1980, the bank's assets increased 5 times to 108.7 billion guilders , the amount of capital and reserves increased to the same extent. The amount of deposits attracted at the beginning of 1982 amounted to 95 billion guilders (96% of assets). 46.9% of the profit (before taxes and deductions to reserves) came from foreign operations of Algemene Bank Nederland, which had a developed network of foreign institutions (69 branches, 7 subsidiaries and 7 representative offices). The bank had 710 branches in the Netherlands.
