Name Etymology
The village is located at the base of Mount Kazinka (Kazinskaya) [4] [5] , which is why its name is associated [4] .
Geographical position
Distance to the regional center : 63 km.
Distance to the district center : 20 km.
History
The village of Podgornoye ( est. Allmäe - “Under the Mountain” [6] ) was formed in 1868 [7] (in some sources 1863 [4] [5] and 1783 [7] are indicated). It was founded by Estonian immigrants from Estonia and Finland , as well as Russians from the central provinces of the Russian Empire [4] [5] , who appeared here after the Peasant Reform of 1861 (the abolition of serfdom), during the period of intensive settlement of Stavropol [6] .
By the mid-1920s, according to the “List of settlements of the nationalities of the Stavropol District”, 1,192 people lived in Podgorny (all of them are Estonians) [8] .

Natives
In 1876, Dmitry Ivanovich Lukyanov was born in Podgorny, who later became a friend and political mentor to actress Maria Fedorovna Andreeva [5] .
In 1905, Iosif Iosifovich Laar was born here, in 1943 he repeated the deed of Alexander Matrosov - during the liberation of the Taman Peninsula , in the area of the Leninsky Crimean farm, he covered the embrasure of the enemy bunker with his body. By a decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Council of the RSFSR of October 5, 1943, I. Laar was awarded the title Hero of the Soviet Union [5] .
In 1923, Tamara Karlovna Laaz was born - a deputy of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of the 3rd convocation.
Monuments
On the territory of the village there is a local history monument - “The grave of the pilot captain Sinyaev, who died in the fight against the Nazis” (1942, 1952) [16] . The remains of Ivan Sergeyevich Sinyaev were buried on January 17, 1943. Above the grave of the pilot (along Tsvetochnaya Street) an obelisk is installed [17] [18] .
Interesting Facts
To the appeal of A.I. Kurilov with a letter from 56 heads of families of the village of Podgorny addressed to the Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation A.V. Zubkov, the Government of the Russian Federation instructed the Ministry of Emergencies of the Russian Federation and the Government of the Stavropol Territory to consider the appeal on the merits. The government of the Stavropol Territory and the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Russian Federation formed a joint commission, which worked in s. Podgorny. According to the results of the work of this commission, the Governor of the Stavropol Territory adopted a resolution on the resettlement of 125 residents from 56 houses from 56 houses.
