Range

Cephaloscyllium stevensi lives in the western Pacific Ocean off the coast of Papua New Guinea at a depth of 240-274 m [1] .

Description

The maximum length is 60 cm. It differs in a characteristic color: the back is gray-brown in color, the belly is whitish. The body and head are covered with brown and whitish spots of different sizes, on the back and head there are 6 large dark marks of a saddle shape, and on the caudal fin - 3 marks. The first four dorsal marks on the sides are connected with the ventral marks. Marked edges cover distinct white specks.
