Biography
In 1959, after graduating from London University College, he received a master's degree in law.
His political career began in Nigeria even before the country gained independence:
- 1952-1955 - member of parliament,
- 1954-1955 - Minister of Labor
- 1955-1959 - High Commissioner in the UK,
- 1960-1966 - Member of the Parliament of Independent Nigeria, during this period he was simultaneously the Minister of Defense and the Navy,
- 1966-1967 - Ambassador to the USA
- 1967-1979 - Chairman of the Civil Service Commission of Eastern Nigeria,
- 1979-1981 - First Deputy Chairman of the Nigerian People's Party (NNP),
- 1981-1983 (after the transformation of the NNP) - First Deputy Chairman of the National Party of Nigeria,
- 1993 - Minister of Foreign Affairs of Nigeria.
