Ur francis

The Rev. Father Francis Ur ( French: Francis Hours ; 1921-1987) is a French Jesuit and archaeologist known for his studies of the prehistoric Levant . [2] Since Syria and Lebanon, where he conducted his excavations, were also French possessions at that time, his activities can also be considered as a contribution to Syrian and Lebanese archeology.

He made a significant contribution to the formation of scientific ideas about the ancient history of Lebanon, participating in the excavation of numerous monuments, such as Jita II. Ur has also authored many publications, including co-authorship with renowned international archaeologists such as Jacques Cowvin ( en: Jacques Cauvin ) and Lorraine Copeland ( en: Lorraine Copeland ). One of his most significant works was the Atlas of Archaeological Monuments of the Middle East 14000-5700 Years Ago [4] , the publication of which began in 1974.
