Biography
Akram Valiev was born on April 17, 1924 in a village of Ilbyakovo, now Aznakaevsky district of Tatarstan, in a peasant family. He graduated from high school, lived in Buryatia , where he worked as a club manager and prospector in a gold mine. In 1941 he was called up for service in the Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army . Since March 1942 - on the fronts of World War II. In the same year, Valiev joined the CPSU (b) . In 1943 he was awarded the rank of sergeant , he became the commander of the rifle division. Participated in battles on the Kalinin and 2nd Baltic fronts. He took part in the liberation of the Novgorod and Pskov regions, the Latvian SSR . In 1944, during the battles for the city of Ludza, he was wounded, but soon returned to duty. By August 1944, Senior Sergeant Akram Valiev was in command of the 1st Battalion of the 341st Guards Rifle Regiment of the 119th Guards Rifle Division of the 10th Guards Army of the 2nd Baltic Front. Distinguished himself during the liberation of the city of Madona [1] .
On the night of August 3–4, 1944, Valiev, along with his squad, sailed across the river near the village of Barkava, Madon district . The department managed to seize the bridgehead . While his fighters repulsed the enemy’s counterattacks, Valiev, capturing three boats, made voyages six times, ferrying the battalion’s fighters to the west bank of the river, despite massive enemy machine-gun and mortar fire. In several cases, Valiev had to swim near the boat, pushing it with his hands in order to transport as many fighters as possible. It was from this bridgehead that the division continued the offensive, freeing Madona on August 13, 1944 [1] .
By decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of March 24, 1945, for the "exemplary performance of the command missions at the front of the battle against the German invaders and the courage and heroism shown" of the guard, senior sergeant Akram Valiev was awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union with the award of the Order of Lenin and the medal " Golden Star ” under number 5467 [1] .
He took part in the liberation of Riga . Valiev met the end of the war on the Courland Peninsula . In 1946, with the rank of lieutenant, he was transferred to the reserve. He lived and worked at home, he died on August 10, 1975 . He was buried in the village of Ilbyakovo [1] .
He was also awarded the Order of the Red Star and a number of medals [1] .
In 2011, a bust of Akram Valiev was installed in the village of Bagdarin in the Bauntovsky district of the Republic of Buryatia [2] .
