Biography
Dmitry Valentik was born on February 23, 1907 in the village of Raikovo (now the Polotsk district of the Vitebsk region of Belarus ) in a peasant family. He graduated from the three classes of the school, then the preparatory courses of the workers' school, worked in his native village. In 1929 he was called up for service in the Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army . In 1930, Valentik joined the VKP (b) . In 1931 he graduated from the Orenburg Aviation School, in 1936 - the courses of the commanders of units at the Borisoglebsk Aviation School of Pilots. He took part in the Soviet-Finnish war as the commander of the 3rd high-speed bomber squadron of the 5th separate high-speed bomber air regiment of the air force of the 14th army [1] .
During the war against the Finnish forces, Valentik made 26 successful sorties from the Vaenga airfield on the Kola Peninsula . He commanded the actions of his squadron in three air battles, during which she shot down 5 Finnish fighters, while losing 2 of their aircraft [1] .
By decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR on May 7, 1940, Captain Dmitry Valentik was awarded the Order of Lenin and the Gold Star Medal " Number 453 [1] .
Since 1941 - on the fronts of the Great Patriotic War. From August 1942 to December 1944, Lieutenant Colonel Dmitry Valentik commanded the 284th short-range bomber regiment (from October 1943 - the 135th Guards Bomber). During the war, he made 115 successful sorties on the Pe-2 bomber. He took part in battles on the South-West , Stalingrad , 4th Ukrainian , 3rd Belorussian fronts. He participated in the Battle of Stalingrad , the liberation of Donbass and the northern coast of the Black Sea . After the end of the war, Valentik continued his service in the Soviet Army, completed refresher courses for officers, served in the Belarusian and Volga military districts. In 1955, in the rank of Colonel Valentik was dismissed. He lived and worked in the town of Rechitsa, Gomel region , died on March 30, 1969 [1] .
He was awarded three orders of Lenin, three orders of the Red Banner , orders of Suvorov 3rd degree, Alexander Nevsky , World War 1th degree, Red Star , as well as a number of medals [1] .
