Education and career
In 1966, received his bachelor's degree from the Catholic Cathedral College of the Immaculate Conception in New York . [3] He then studied Catholic theology at the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome . [4] In 1973 he received a master's degree from the University of Fordham . [3] Then he was engaged in a theological study of Chaitanya-chandrodaya-nataki , the drama of the medieval Hare Krishna poet and saint Kavikarnapura , dedicated to the life of Chaitanya . [5] In 1979, under the scientific supervision of Professor Jose Pereira. defended his doctoral dissertation on the history of religion on The Theology of Kavikarṇapūra's Caitanyacandrodaya, Act II . [1] [1] [6] [7] Then he taught at the Department of Theology at Boston College . [8] In 1982, he moved to Hampden-Sydney College , where he was a senior teacher and then an adjunct professor of religion. In 1992 he became a professor of religion. [9]
Personal life
Married to Ellen Deluca, professor of medicine at Lynchburg College [4] . From marriage to her has a son, Peter Carney. Since 1998, lives in Lynchburg ( Virginia ) [4] .
