Biography
Born in Baku in the family of the actor, People’s Artist of the Georgian SSR and the Armenian SSR, Isaak Semenovich Alikhanyan , he graduated from high school in Tbilisi .
In 1930 he graduated from the Moscow Institute of National Economy .
In 1931-1948 - he worked at Moscow University at the Department of Genetics under the guidance of A. S. Serebrovsky . Member of discussions with Lysenkoists in 1939 and 1948.
He participated in the Great Patriotic War , was seriously wounded.
After the August session, VASKHNIL was dismissed from the university and began working at the All-Union Penicillin Research Institute (later - the All - Russian Research Institute of Antibiotics ) (1948-1958).
In 1958-1968 he worked at the Institute of Atomic Energy. I.V. Kurchatova , in 1968 organized the All-Union Scientific Research Institute of Genetics and Breeding of Industrial Microorganisms , the director of which was until 1975.
He is the author of works on genetic recombination in actinomycetes, the genetic interaction of actinomycete cells and actinophages, genetic control of DNA synthesis in bacteria and phages, as well as molecular mechanisms of mutagenesis in bacteriophages and the genetic apparatus of phage thymine metabolism [1] .
