Typhoon Keith ( eng. Typhoon Keith , international designation: 9725 , designation JTWC : 29W ) is the tenth super typhoon of 11 super typhoons of the 1997 Pacific typhoon record season. This tropical cyclone formed from the equatorial region of low pressure on October 26 . After two days of gradual development, on October 30 , a period of rapid amplification passed, and the maximum constant wind increased to 54 m / s. On November 1, the storm still intensified and reached the force of a super-typhoon with maximum constant winds of 80 m / s. The next day, a typhoon passed between the islands of Rota and Tinitan of the Northern Mariana Islands . After several hesitations, on November 5, the typhoon gradually began to lose power and accelerated movement to the northeast. On November 8, it turned into an extratropical cyclone .

Despite the passage along the islands, on one of them the wind strength did not exceed 47 m / s, however, these winds also led to destruction. More than 800 homes were destroyed, and losses amounted to $ 15 million (at 1997 prices). About the victims of the typhoon were not reported, one person was injured.
