Aaronsony ( lat. Aaronsohnia ) is a genus of flowering plants of the Astrovye family ( lat. Compositae ). In nature, it grows in unsalted steppes and deserts of North Africa and the Middle East . The name Aaronsony was given in 1927 by the botanists Otto Warburg ( Eng. Otto Warburg ; 1859-1938) and Alexander Eig ( Eng. Alexander Eig ; 1894-1938) in honor of the agronomist Aaron Aaronson ( Eng. Aaron Aaronsohn ).
