Biography
Tim Bergling was born in 1989 in Stockholm [7] . He began his career by making a remix on a musical theme from the video game Lazy Jones , and later recorded his own track “Lazy Lace”, which was soon released on Strike Recordings. His music was influenced in particular by Leidback Luke , Steve Angelo , Tocadisco , Daft Punk , Eric Pridz and Axwell . After winning the Pita Tonga Fast Trax program prize, Avici received many offers and in April 2008 released the track “Manman” on the Tonga label Bedroom Bedlam [7] . In May of the same year, he signed contracts with At Night Management and Vicious Grooves. Then he took the pseudonym Avicii , which in Sanskrit means the eighth, the most distant circle of hell, where criminals go and where they are revived again. He took this pseudonym when, when registering on the Myspace site , it turned out that his real name was already taken [8] .
In the summer of 2011, British singer Leona Lewis presented the song " Collide ", as an instrumental component of which was an excerpt from Avici's track "Penguin", performed by him at concerts from the end of 2010. Sampling permission was not obtained, and after the scandal with accusations of plagiarism and threats of legal proceedings, a single Lewis was released indicating Avici as a coauthor [9] . In the autumn of the same year, his single “Levels” became an international hit: in the UK, Austria and Germany, he managed to enter the top ten, and in his native Sweden, for the first time, he reached the top of the chart [10] . This track was also the basis for the Flow Feid song “Good Feeling”, which was very popular all over the world and occupied the leading positions in the music charts. In the magazine's DJ Magazine rating for 2011, Avici rose from 39th to sixth place, and the following year he entered the top three [11] .
At the 54th Grammy Ceremony, he and David Guetta were nominated for the Best Dance Record category for their joint track Sunshine [12] . In 2013, another Grammy nomination was received by his track “Levels” as the best dance record [13] .
September 13, 2013 released his debut studio album True [14] , which received platinum certifications in countries such as Austria, Canada, Mexico, Norway, Poland, Sweden and the United Kingdom.
March 28, 2014 was hospitalized due to problems with the gall bladder [15] . In this regard, at the UMF festival in Miami , where he was supposed to perform, he was replaced by DJ Deadmau5 [16] .
October 2, 2015 released his second studio album called Stories [17] .
March 29, 2016 announced the end of public speaking and tours [18] .
August 10, 2017 released a mini-album called AVĪCI (01), consisting of 6 songs.
In 2018, the tracks of the artist “Levels” and “Heaven” recorded with vocals by Chris Martin, entered the top 10 most listened tracks by version 1001tracklists.
On April 20, 2018, Avici was found dead in Oman [19] in his hotel room. The musician died due to massive blood loss (suicide). A suicide note was discovered near his body, in which the musician explained the reasons for his voluntary retirement. He was buried in the Hedvig Eleonora church in Stockholm.
In April 2019, it was announced that the album “ Tim ”, on which Avicii worked until his death, will be released on June 6, 2019. The first single , SOS, was released on April 10th. All proceeds from the sale of the album will go to the foundation of Tim Bergling.
