Emblem Description
“In a scarlet field, a silver maiden in a crown , holding a silver key in her belt in her hands; the virgin’s dress merges with the concave tip of the same metal. ”
Justification of Symbols
Vowel coat of arms. The female figure is a poetic symbol of the Western Dvina , the Daugava, which was an important road to White Russia , Latvia and Western Europe .
The figure of a crowned young woman with a key in her hands symbolizes the key position of the westernmost region of the region.
The crown indicates the high importance of the Western Dvina in the history, culture, economy and folklore of Russia, Belarus and Latvia.
