Group History

The group was founded in 2008 by Julia Pearce, who wanted, after moving to Los Angeles, to found a rock group consisting entirely of girls. At that time, Julia was 11 [1] years old. Through ads all over Los Angeles and an Internet search, Pierce found Nia Lovelis, Miranda Miller, and Marianna Vartanyan. Marianne later left the band, and Rena Lovelis, Nii's sister, joined the girls as a bass player . At first the group was called Red Shadow , after which it was called Cherri Bomb , by the title of the book Cherry Bomb - The Ultimate Guide to Becoming a Better Flirt, a Tougher Chick, and a Hotter Girlfriend, and to Living Life Like a Rock Star , by Carrie Borzillo [ 2] . The group quickly gained popularity and acted as the opening act of such groups as Filter , Camp Freddy , Foo Fighters , Smashing Pumpkins , Bush , Staind , Steel Panther .

Narrated by Julia Pearce [1] :

We went from rehearsing once or twice a weekend to home schooling and rehearsing every day. From covers performed in a very small music store, to Reading and Leeds and Soundwave festivals in Australia.

On June 14, 2011 , the band signed with Hollywood Records [3] and on October 18, 2011, they released their debut EP , Stark. Cherri Bomb began performing at major European festivals such as Oxegen , T in the Park , Sonisphere and Reading and Leeds Festivals [4] .

In 2013, the founder of the group itself, Julia Pearce, officially left the group, and Casey Moreta, who replaced Julia Pearce for a long time, became the new member and on March 9 he was declared an official member.

After two years of Julia’s departure, the guys decided to change their band name to “Hey Violet”, announcing this on the official YouTube channel.
