Club career

Tan Yaodong began his football career at a club from his hometown - the youth team of FC Liaoning . And in 1983 he made his debut here for the main team. After several years of performances, he won the first trophy with the club - he became the champion of the Jia-A League in 1985. It was the first trophy in the player’s list of achievements, which became an integral part of the Liaoning club. The pinnacle of his career was winning the 1990 AFC Champions Cup . Despite another champion title in China, the player decided to try his hand at a foreign championship - the choice fell on Japan's second division club Otsuka Pharmaceutical , which he joined in the 1992 season. After one season, Tang Yaodong returned to his native FC Liaoning , where he ended his playing career.

National Team

The debut for the national team of China was held on August 24, 1986 in a friendly match against the national team of the DPRK in which a draw was recorded 0-0. [2] Under the leadership of head coach Gao Fengwen, Tan began to regularly get into the first team, and on September 1, 1986, opened the scoring for the national team - in a friendly game against Singapore , in which China won 3-0. [3] Tan Yaodong played all three matches at the 1988 Olympics in Seoul , but the team took off in the first round, scoring just one point in the group. [4] He also played at the 1988 Asian Cup and helped the Chinese team take fourth place in the tournament, but the team did not qualify for the 1990 World Championship . After leaving Gao Fengwen, the player stopped falling into the main squad and that was the end of his career for the national team.

After completing his career, Tan Yaodong decided to stay at the club and took over as head coach of the Liaoning youth team, which he held from 1996 to 2001 — before the youth team was allowed to register and perform in the third division, and the team itself was renamed “ Huludao Huvin. He spent the 2002 season already in this club - the team at the end of the draw took the 6th place. [5] In the 2003 season, the team was sold to the SVT Group and moved to Nankin , and the coach decided to remain in Liaoning structures, where he was offered the post of assistant head coach. [6]

FC Liaoning

After the post of assistant head coach, Tan Yaodun, he was able to try himself as a team mentor - after a bad start to the 2005 season, he was appointed to that post. At the end of the season the club took place in the middle of the table, and the main task was completed - the game was adjusted in all lines. The following season, the results did not improve and Liaoning again started off badly in the championship, but the management decided not to dismiss the specialist. [7] The 2007 season was also not very successful, and this time it was decided not to renew the contract. [eight]

Henan Construction

On January 7, 2008, Jia Xiuquan, the new head coach of Henan Construction , invited Tan Yaodong as an assistant team, and ambitious goals were set for the team. However, the results of the leadership were considered unsatisfactory and on June 15, Jia Xiuquan was dismissed. After some time, Tang Yaodong resigned as well. [9] In the 2008 season, the Portuguese mentor Asasio Casimiro was also fired, for a short period it was decided to return to the Tana team to complete the tough season. [10] At the beginning of the 2009 season, he remained a Henan coach, and the team began to show good results. His achievements include the highest achievement of Henan Construction - third place in the Super League . In addition, he received the title of Coach of the Year from the CFA .
