Mahmud's father was killed in the war in 1987 , after which his mother, along with six children, fled to Germany with fake documents. Due to problems with documents, the family lived poorly. Mahmoud (Charr) began to engage in Thai boxing and kickboxing and achieved success by winning the German and European titles, as well as winning the K-1 tournament in the Netherlands . Then 10 fights in an amateur ring followed, but performances in tournaments because of fake documents were impossible for Charr.

Professional career
During classes in the Max Schmeling Hall in Berlin, Charr was spotted by Ullie Wegner, at first he worked as a sparring partner for more eminent boxers at Wilfried Sauerland's club, then he decided to go in for professional boxing, since “boxing is shown on TV, and [he] provides the best chance. " But, without a work permit in Germany, Manuel could not earn money with his performances in the ring. Wilfried Sauerland offered Charr a 3-year contract, but froze fees until the situation with Manuel's documents was clarified. Charr spent 7 fights for "pocket money", that is, for 35 euros a day and was not going to stop, but by the will of fate, he went to jail for 10 months for a fight. He behaved in an exemplary manner in prison, training prisoners. Later, Charr moved to the Universum under the care of Fritz Zdunek , after leaving Fritz began to work with Michael Timm [2] .
Return to Boxing
After a two-year break in boxing and a change in the promotion company, he began to speak out against more experienced rivals. By his 11th fight, Manuel entered the ring against the undefeated Nigerian Gbengi Oloukun , who had 16 victories in 16 battles, and knocked him out in the 7th round.
Charr also defeated the famous Bahamian boxer Sherman Williams , Jamaican Owen Beck , who was knocked out at the last minute of the fight. He defeated Robert Hawkins , Zack Page and Jonathan Passy, and went to battle against the Englishman, a former contender for the championship title, Danny Williams . Charr began to actively beat Williams in the 7th round, and the referee intervened in the fight and secured the victory by technical knockout.
And after the victory over the Turk Serdar Usar went to the champion battle for the title of international champion WBC against the Brazilian Marcelo Louise Nascimento [3] .
In 2012, Manuel created his own promotion company and decided to start organizing boxing fights himself [4] [5] . So on one of them he defended his title against the Ukrainian boxer Taras Bidenko [6] [7] .
Championship fight with Vitali Klitschko
In May 2012, a contract was signed for the fight for the WBC world champion title between Manuel Charr and champion Vitali Klitschko . Initially, the fight was scheduled for September 1, 2012 , and was to be held in Kiev at the stadium of the NSC Olimpiyskiy [8] [9] [10] . However, the battle was postponed until September 8, and it took place in Moscow [11] . A week before the battle, he won about 5 thousand euros in the lottery. “Another correct figure - and I would cancel the fight with Klitschko and resigned,” Charr told German reporters [12] .
September 8, 2012 in Moscow, Manuel Charr entered the ring with Vitali Klitschko . The fight did not start very actively, Manuel Charr took the job number two, and emphasized the defense. But the exact deuces from Vitali Klitschko achieved their goals in the first round. At the end of the second round, Charr launched a counterattack, but missed the oncoming punches, and fell to the canvas. For the first time in his professional career, Charr was knocked down. A gong sounded immediately, and from the third round Klitschko’s advantage grew. Charr began to advance, worked a lot with the corps, but mostly defended himself. In the fourth round, left-wing cross Klitschko cut Charra's eyebrow. Charr’s face immediately spilled blood. After examining the doctor, the referee decided to stop the fight. Manuel took this decision very aggressively, but cooled down a few minutes later [13] .
2012—2013
After the defeat, Charr did not settle down, and decided to conduct a rating fight against the former world champion in the first heavyweight champion according to WBC Juan Carlos Gomez . According to Charr, a victory over Gomez will raise him to the third line of the WBC rating, bringing him closer to a re-fight with Vitali Klitschko [14] .
The fight with Juan Carlos Gomez broke down due to financial reasons, and the former coach Charra Graziano Roccigiani put forward high financial demands [15] .
At the end of November, it became known that the German rival, Konstantin Airich , would become Charra’s rival. Airich was a tough second-tier boxer. In the last fights, he was able to cover the entire distance of the battle with such serious rivals as Odlanier Solis , and Vyacheslav Glazkov , which predicted a long duel with Charr. The battle began very actively. From the first seconds of the round, Charr rushed at Irih, and brought down a hail of blows on him. Charr was advancing so quickly that he nearly knocked Irikh off his feet, not only because of the blows, but also because of the quick attack. The referee suspended the attack of Charr, making a remark to him so that he would not push the opponent. After that, Charr shocked Constantine with a powerful left hook. Airich fell and could not get up about 10. Charr confidently won by knockout in the first round, and again declared himself after losing in a champion fight. This fight was the shortest in Charr's career.

Charr entered the ring with a lot of weight, and was not very fast in battle, but the blows that Saglam inflicted did not cause him any problems. In two rounds, Charr successfully attacked an opponent several times, but striking attacks did not develop. In the interval between the second and third rounds, Saglam, referring to a shoulder injury, refused to continue the fight. Manuel Charr won ahead of schedule.

On October 19, 2013, Charr defeated the Russian, Denis Bakhtov . During the battle, Denis acted more actively and clearly led the way, Charr sat more behind the block, while delivering more powerful blows than he received from the opponent. However, Denis did not reach the 6th round due to a hand injury. Charr won by refusing to continue the fight.
During this period, Charr held several fights against the most rated opponents, alternating wins with defeats.
On April 12, 2014, Charr defeated the famous American spoiler, former world title challenger, Kevin Johnson , in a 10-round fight.
Fight with Alexander Povetkin

After six rounds, missed punches from Povetkin began to affect and in the first half of the 7th round, Povetkin, with a protracted five-hit combination, knocked out Charra hard.
