Biography
Born on October 12, 1941. Mother - schema-nun Anna (Peretyagina) (1917-2001).
Initially, she worked at the post office, and since 1976, she worked as a forwarding agent in the editorial office of the Journal of the Moscow Patriarchate . An important role in her life during this period was played by Metropolitan Pitirim (Nechaev) , who was then the editor-in-chief of the ZhMP [1] .
In October 1983, she became a novice of the Holy Trinity St. Sergius Monastery in Riga , where she performed obedience at the choir and the monastery refectory.
In 1984, she graduated from the Regency School at the Moscow Theological Seminary on the territory of the Trinity-Sergius Lavra and on July 9, 1984 returned to the Riga Holy Trinity-Sergius Monastery, where in 1988, Metropolitan of Riga and Latvia Leonid (Polyakov) was tonsured a monk with the name Nikon (in honor of the Monk Nikon of Radonezh ). Her mentor was Abbess Magdalene (Zhegalova) .
In 1990, she was appointed abbess of the Kazan Amvrosievsky Women's Desert in Shamordin . At that time, the monastery was in ruins [2] . For an extremely short period of time - only 20 days - the temple in honor of the icon of the Mother of God "Satisfy My Sorrows" was prepared for the consecration, which took place on May 27. Later on, two more churches were rebuilt and consecrated on the territory of the monastery, including the Kazan Cathedral, consecrated in August 2005 by Patriarch Alexy II [3] .
On the same day, she was elevated to the rank of abbess in the church in honor of the icon of the Mother of God "Satisfy My Sorrows" of the Shamordinsky Monastery.
Over the years of her motherhood, she was able to restore the monastery and attract the attention of many people to it. In 2010, the monastery had 130 inhabitants [4] .
She died on May 28, 2012 after a serious incurable disease [5] [1] . In connection with her death, His Holiness Patriarch Kirill sent condolences to the sisters of the Kazan Amvrosievsky female desert [6] .
On May 30, 2012, Mother Superior Nikona was buried by the Archbishop of Vladimir and Suzdal Yevlogiy (Smirnov) and the chairman of the Synodal Department for Monasteries and Monasticism, Archbishop Feodnost Sergiev Posad (Guzikov) [7] .
