The Siberian iron and steel industry is the youngest metallurgical base in Russia . The formation of the base began in the Soviet period on the territory of the West Siberian and East Siberian economic regions. The metallurgical base of Siberia is in the process of formation, so it is possible, in the future, to create new centers. About one fifth of the total iron produced in Russia is produced in Siberia. The Siberian iron and steel industry is rich in iron ore reserves. First of all, the reserves of Mountain Shoria , Khakassia and the Angara-Ilim iron ore basin are allocated.
