Since 1674, one branch of the Nostitz clan bought the county of Rinek in Franconia and since then has been one of the sovereign counts of the Holy Roman Empire . During the dissolution of the empire, this branch was mediated . The most senior representative of this line, Count Friedrich-Moritz von Nostitz (1728-1796), reached the rank of Field Marshal in the service of the Habsburgs , and at the end of his life he headed the military department ( gofkrigsrat ).

From the branch that settled in Saxony, August Ludwig served the Prussian crown with honors during the Napoleonic Wars , and Gregory (1781-1838) entered the Russian service in 1807 and was adjutant general. His son, Count Ivan Grigorievich (1824-1905), a lieutenant general, served with honors in the Caucasus and during the November uprising . His son Gregory (1862-1926), also a general, headed the headquarters of the Guards Corps during the First World War .

The surname of Nostitz was divided into many branches, four of which have count dignity: three count dignities of the Roman Empire, and the fourth count dignity of the Kingdom of Saxony and moved to Russia [1] .
