Biography
Born April 8, 1958 in Narew , Poland .
From 1972 to 1978 he studied at the gymnasium in Warsaw . In 1980 he graduated from the Warsaw Orthodox Seminary . Graduate of the Warsaw Theological Academy . February 27, 1989 awarded the degree of Master of Theology.
On February 15, 1979, he was ordained deacon .
On November 30, 1980, he was ordained a priest .
On February 27, 1981, he was tonsured a monk with the name of Abel.
Since 1982, he served in Komanchy , and since 1984 he was appointed hegumen of the Yablochinsky St. Onufrievsky Monastery .
January 7, 1989 he was elevated to the rank of archimandrite .
On March 25, 1989, he was ordained bishop and appointed to the newfound Diocese of Lublin .
In 1989-1992, he was rector of the Higher Orthodox Theological Seminary in Yablechny.
On his initiative, in 1991 a Church commission was organized to study the history of Orthodoxy and Ukrainian culture in the Kholmshchina, and in 1994 the Museum of the Orthodox Diocese of Lublin was created.
On September 15, 2001, he represented the Polish Orthodox Church on the intronization of the Patriarch of Jerusalem, Irenaeus, in the Church of the Resurrection of Christ in Jerusalem [1] .
In 2001 he was elevated to the rank of archbishop .
During the years of bishop's ministry, Bishop Abel did a lot to restore church life in the southeastern regions of Poland, from where the Orthodox population was almost completely deported in the first post-war years. During the years of his ministry in the Lublin-Holmes diocese, the number of active Orthodox churches doubled, and two Orthodox monasteries were founded: a convent in Turkovitsy and a convent in Kostomloty.
Since December 2007 - Member of the Rotary International Club .
February 17, 2013 attended the celebrations on the occasion of the intronization of the Antioch Patriarch John X [2] .
