Emblem Description
"In a golden shield, a black crab supporting a mustache with raised claws."
Justification of Symbols
The emblem is based on the historical emblem of the city of Vesyegonsk in the Tver province, approved on October 10 (21), 1780 [2] [3] .: " Cancer of black water in a golden field with which the water surrounding this city is very abundant ."
In the coat of arms of Vesyegonsky district, in contrast to the historical coat of arms of Vesyegonsk (1780), the upper part with the Tver coat of arms was removed, and the cancer was turned in the opposite direction, i.e. turned up the coat of arms.
Cancer in heraldry is considered the rarest and most aristocratic symbol among arthropods .
Cancer in the coat of arms of Vesyegonsk is the only "heraldic cancer" in Russia.
Coat of Arms History
