Biography

Born December 17, 1922 in a peasant family. Russian He graduated from the engineering college.

In the Red Army since 1941 . He graduated from the crash course of the Oryol Military Infantry School. On the fronts of World War II from May 1942 . He fought on the Don and Central fronts. In January 1943 he was awarded the Order of the Red Banner.

On September 26-27, 1943, the commander of the 985th rifle regiment, senior lieutenant A.I. Petrov, when crossing the Dnieper, personally led the landing of landings, their crossing and the capture of the bridgehead on the right bank of the river near the village of Yasnogorodka, Vyshgorodsky district, Kiev region .

On October 4, 1943, Senior Lieutenant A.I. Petrov died in battle. He was buried in a mass grave in the city of Oster, Kozeletsky district, Chernihiv region ( Ukraine ).

By decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of January 17, 1943, for the courage and heroism shown when crossing the Dnieper and holding the bridgehead on its right bank, Senior Lieutenant Petrov Anton Ilyich was posthumously awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union with the award of the Order of Lenin and the Golden Star medal .
