Criticism of the works of Tretyakov by Soviet scientists
Academician B. A. Rybakov , recognizing the merits of P. N. Tretyakov in the study of the origin of the Slavs
The concept of historical development of the Slavs in the I millennium e. built by P. N. Tretyakov on the basis of the achievements of archeology in the study of Slavic issues. It captivates with its harmony and logical perfection and is generally convincing, although not the only possible one.
at the same time did not agree with him on a number of fundamental points
No more than a hypothesis is ... an opinion about the non-Slavic affiliation of Chernyakhov’s culture. P. N. Tretyakov believed that the reliably Slavic culture of the Middle Dnieper, known for the 3rd quarter of the 1st millennium, is based on the monuments of Kiev and similar types, in turn genetically related to Zarubinets culture. However, there is reason to suppose Slavism not only of Zarubinets, but also of Chernyakhov’s culture [1] .
