Ishkashim ( Tajik. Ishkoshim ) is a village, the district center of Ishkashim district of the Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Region of the Republic of Tajikistan [2] . Located in the southeastern part of the country, on the banks of the Pyanj River , on the border with Afghanistan , 104 km south of the city of Khorog .

The population according to the 2010 census is 2900 people. [one]
On the Afghan side, on the other side of the river, is a city, also called Ishkashim . 3 km north of the village there is a bridge across the Panj, which was built in 2006, connecting two villages of the same name [3] .
