Malatyaspor ( tour: Malatya Spor Kulübü ) is a Turkish football club from the city of Malatya . Founded in 1966 , played in the Turkish Super League and UEFA Cup. For its former colors - yellow and black - the club received the nickname Tigers of the East . Malatyaspor is the only team from Eastern Anatolia to take part in European competitions. In the 2003/04 season, the club participated in the first round of the UEFA Cup , but lost to Basel . The team's highest achievement in the Super League is third in the 1987/88 season. In the 2005/06 season , “Malatyaspor” left the Super League, and by the end of the 2010/11 season flew to the Amateur League - the fifth most important Turkish division. In the 2012/13 season, the club was declared in the Malatya Super League .
