Biography

He lived all his life in Nizhny Novgorod (Gorky). In 1983 he graduated from the Gorky Polytechnic Institute with a degree in electrical engineering. Two years later, together with four friends, he organized the group “ Chronop ”, in which he sang, played the guitar and composed songs. May 3, 1985 is the band's official birthday.

Since 1998, he worked as a journalist in the editorial office of the weekly AiF-NN, in which he led the Kultura and I am Young bands. He left the editorial office in 2006, becoming a freelance journalist.

After the breakup of “Chronop” in early 2000, Demidov became part of the pop-rock trio “ Suede ”, which Artemy Troitsky in the pages of Playboy magazine called “the musical discovery of the year” (“they perform light music and do it with a modest charm ...” ) For two songs “Suede” - “18 hours” and “Promotai” - clips were shot. [one]

Unable to withstand creative differences, Demidov left Suede in December 2002 - at the very moment when the single from My Chechnya stormed the Top 5 of Chart Dozen Our Radio. Only in 2006, the entire archive material “Suede”, including 19 songs by Vadim Demidov, was released by the record label “Soyuz / Zenith”.

During 2003, Vadim Demidov was producing the Krupskaya project, which received several proposals for the release of the album from leading Moscow labels, but lasted only nine months.

In the fall of 2004, Kirill Kobrin , one of the founding fathers of Chronop, published the book “Somewhere in Europe”, dedicated to an old friend Vadim Demidov. At the Nizhny Novgorod presentation of the book "Chronop" made in his "golden" composition. And the real reunion of the group took place at the end of 2005. After the reunion, Chronop released five albums.

Vadim Demidov has been writing prose since the mid-80s. In 1986, he invented the genre of absurd miniatures "Harmsinka" - an imitation of Harms . The first and most famous Harmsink cycle is the Leningrad Rock Club . Since the beginning of the 90s, Demidov has been addressing the subject of “The Stories of Chronophs and Famas” by Julio Cortazar in the miniature series “The Lost Cortazar”.

In 2010, in the literary magazine New World (No. 10), Demidov's debut novel, Sergeant Pepper, Your Sons Alive, was published. The novel entered the long list of the literary prize "Nose" [2] .

In 2011, the publishing house of Irina Prokhorova's New Literary Review published a chilopia dilogy - “Sergeant Pepper, Your Sons Are Alive!” And “Where Angels Fall,” which hit the Big Book award long list the following year [ 3] .

Since 2009, Vadim Demidov has been conducting a weekly music page at Novaya Gazeta in Nizhny.

By Christmas 2013, the record label “Branch Exit” released a collection of acoustic recordings “Vadim Demidov. Acoustics of The Best. " In the spring of the same year, the literary site of Vadim Demidov was created, on which his new poems and tales for adults appear day after day. And at the end of the year the first poetry book, called “Poems”, was released.

In April 2014 , Demidov with the group " Chronop " released one of the best albums in his discography - "Seychastchie". In the autumn of that year, the book "Poems-2" was released.

In the spring of 2015 , Vadim Demidov completed work on the novel "# Yadnash", insisted on the events of the Cold Civil War last year. In April 2016, the novel was published by EKSMO Publishing House.

According to poet Dmitry Tokman, “a new novel by the poet and rock musician, the leader of the Nizhny Novgorod group“ Chronop ”Vadim Demidov successfully inherits the manner stated by the author in previous works -“ Sergeant Pepper, your sons are alive! ”And“ Where the angels fall ” . Tangible - sometimes before naturalism - the details of the time and place of action presented organically coexist with hyperbolization, visits to farce and mysticism, and dreaming and deep reflection are interspersed with almost verbatim quotes from newspapers and blogs. Demidov's corporate identity is the ability to discern between cosmic lines a history of cosmic proportions and a parable of biblical sound, without sinning either with pathos or with prophetism. ”

The writer Valery Khazin defines the novel as follows: “A witty political pamphlet and topical social satire, made according to the recipes of the best rock operas and containing sparkling drops of genuine poetry. And the reader must distinguish in the narrative the voices of the “literary first ancestors” of the author — the ironic and hopelessly sad voices of the Kortasar’s chronopes. ”

In September 2016, Demidov published the novel “2028, or the Black Hole Odyssey,” which compiles the dilogy with the previous “Yadnash”. The range of opinions about the Odyssey was very wide - “a complex magic formula, a spell aimed at preventing it from working out as described in this book” (Artyom Lipatov), “the most terrible book I have ever read” (Evgeny Gabelev), “A convincing political novel on a hot topic with easily recognizable prototypes” (Artemy Troitsky), “a kind of memorial service for“ love, freedom and rock and roll ”, more than once sung in the songs of“ Chronop ”(Pavel Pikovsky),“ everything is in the author time a publicist fights with a novelist, a satirist with a tragedian, and a mystic with all the others (Alex smearing) "dystopia, drawing a picture of the future of the world in a steampunk style, which leads society to disperse at full steam machine power" (Olga Nazarova).

Since January 2017, Demidov has been working on the new album “Chronop”, which should be the tenth in the discography of the group. The group plans to finish work on the album in the fall of 2018.

In the spring of 2017, the collection of Demidov's "Tales of Animals" was released. The tales that compiled the collection have been written over the past four years, in between work on hard social novels. The reality in them appears in an absurd parody form, literary plots and heroes are subjected to free interpretation, ironic play-off and rethinking. In an interview, the author said this: “The heroes of fairy tales are covered with hair and tails, but this is only an appearance - of course, all their conflicts are completely human. My retired hare, a pig that is about to be slaughtered, turned into a river creature, the dog Mumu, is me, you, all of us. It may seem that in some places I am nostalgic for my youth, for Soviet times, but this nostalgia is a bit ironic ” [4] .

In April 2019, the 10th anniversary album “Chronop” was released at the music publishing house Geometry, Despair and Love, on which Vadim Demidov, as a songwriter, vocalist and co-producer, has worked over the past two years. Andrei Bukharin [5] , reviewing the album, noted that the metaphysical side of Vadim Demidov’s work, as a witch’s elixir insists, grows stronger over the years, and he remains, using the expression of Maximilian Voloshin, who did not know the ugly word “underground”, - our “underground »Rock classic.
