Shooting in Hyvinkää ( Fin. Hyvinkään ammuskelu ) - events that occurred in the Finnish city of Hyvinkäa on the night of Saturday, May 26, 2012, when, as a result of a shooting arranged by 18-year-old Eero Samuli Hiltunen ( Fin. Eero Samuli Hiltunen ) from a hunting rifle caliber, two people were killed and seven more were injured.

Timeline
On Saturday night , May 26, 2012, the offender, dressed in camouflage uniforms, climbed onto the roof of a restaurant in the city center, armed with two rifles; at 01.53 he opened fire on the people below. When a young 23-year-old police officer arrived at the scene, the offender wounded her in the stomach [2] . An 18-year-old girl died on the spot and another 8 people were injured (two of them, including a police officer, were severe).
Around 8:00 in the same area, the police arrested the shooter [3] . It turned out to be 18-year-old Eero Samuli Hiltunen, whose name was not originally named; when he was discovered two pieces of firearms for which he did not have permits. A little later, a 19-year-old athlete Topi Koistinen died in the hospital , member of the baseball team Hyvinkään Tahko [4] . The police officer was in critical condition for a long time [5] . Soon the offender pleaded guilty [6] .
Arrested
It is reported that the detainee, 18-year-old Eero Samuli Hiltunen (born June 19, 1993 ), was undergoing treatment for a mental disorder in 2008; he was a fan of airsoft (Airsoft), and on his Facebook page [7] he played the game Battlefield . His page also contains photographs of his airsoft team in camouflage clothing.
The arrested person announced that he was a fan of the hero of the Winter War of 1939-1940 . sniper Simo Hyayuha , and on his Facebook page noted that he liked, in particular, the German Army, the Finnish clothing store, the True Finns party , the Jokerit and the Moomins hockey team. On a social network, he has a total of 69 friends, among whom was a 19-year-old young man who died as a result of a shooting. The last time he updated his status on Facebook 15 minutes before the crime was committed was: “It was great, friends” [8] .
During interrogation, the arrested behaved calmly, he pleaded guilty, but did not repent of what he had done [9] . On May 28, 2012, he was charged with two premeditated murders and seven attempted murders, resulting in serious bodily harm [10] . A psychiatric examination on August 27, 2012 recognized the shooter as sane [11] .
Litigation
On November 22, 2012, the arrested person was charged with the murder of two people, seven assassination attempts, and the fact that he endangered the lives of another 38 people. The accused pleaded guilty. Before the trial [12], the arrested person underwent a forensic examination, on the basis of which it was recognized that at the time the crime was committed he was sane.
On January 8, 2013, a trial began in Helsinki County Court [13] .
On February 28, 2013, a court sentenced 19-year-old Eero Samuli Hiltunen to life imprisonment, with the right to petition for parole after 10 years. [14] .
Reaction
Finnish President Sauli Niinistö , expressing his condolences to the victims, noted the presence in society of certain antivalues that alienate some people from human behavior. [15]
Finnish Prime Minister Jyrki Katainen called on the country's public to discuss the causes of unmotivated violence in the youth environment [16] , and Minister of the Interior Päivi Ryasänen noted the coordinated actions of the Hyvinkää policemen and urged parliamentarians to introduce a number of restrictive amendments to the arms law by the end of the year [17] .
On May 27 and 28, 2012, state flags were lowered in Hyvinkäa, and a minute of silence passed in the schools and institutions of the city on the morning of May 28 [18] .
