The 2012 Summer Olympics for Bahrain were the most successful summer games - for the first time the Olympic medal was won. Bronze medals were won by runner Mariam Yusuf Jamal , who took third place in the final of the 1500-meter distance . However, after rechecking the doping samples from the 2012 Games, two Turkish runners who took first and second place were disqualified and the gold medal passed to Mariam Jamal. In the unofficial medal standings, Bahrain, thanks to the redistribution of medals, has risen from 79th to 51st place.
