History

The brigade was formed on September 22, 1942 in the village of Palezh on Kozara Mountain. The brigade consisted of fighters from the 2nd Krajinsky Partisan Detachment named after Dr. Mladen Stojanovic . Initially, there were 1,100 soldiers, divided into four battalions. The soldiers were armed with 940 rifles, and they also had 45 infantry machine guns at their disposal.

From September and October, the outbreak of hostilities in Bosnia: during these two months, they killed 76 German soldiers and one officer, captured 22 ordinary soldiers and one officer. Among the trophies were 25 rifles, a light machine gun, two machine guns and two pistols. The saboteurs of the brigade brigade, which was called in the Serbian language “ Bombashi ”, destroyed five trucks that delivered infantry. The efforts of the partisans also succeeded in freeing Bihac and creating the Bihac Republic, independent of the Germans (like Uzzytska ). .

The brigade participated in the battles for the settlements of Bosanski Novi, Sanski Most, Dervent, Teslic, Srebrnik, Krupan and others. The soldiers participated in the liberation of Belgrade and Srem .
