Oleg Aleksandrovich Alekseev ( March 27, 1953 - July 30, 2015 ) - Soviet, Buryat athlete , freestyle wrestler, European champion and World Cup winner, honored trainer of the RSFSR .

Biography

Born in the ulus of Murin, Ekhirit-Bulagat district, Ust-Ordynsky Buryat autonomous region . He became interested in freestyle wrestling in childhood, when his older brother Vyacheslav brought him to the freestyle wrestling section, where Konstantin Baimeev worked as a coach at that time. An experienced trainer immediately noticed a talented boy, noting his natural data, hard work and determination. It was under the guidance of Baimeev that Oleg came to the first sports successes, including third place in the All-Russian children’s tournament in the city of Ordzhonikidze .

Sports career

After moving to Ulan-Ude, he enters the sports faculty of the Buryat Pedagogical Institute (BSPI, now BSU ) and continues to engage in freestyle wrestling. It should be noted that in the 1970s, the free -style wrestling section at the Belarusian State Pedagogical Institute was one of the strongest in Siberia , the competition here was very intense. And against this background, Oleg Alekseev was not lost, on the contrary, he took the leading position. So, he was the first of the Buryat wrestlers to become the champion of the USSR among students and rural athletes, he won the prestigious tournament for prizes of the USSR Sports Committee.

He began working as a certified specialist in physical education at another Buryat university, VSTI (now VSTU ), where he continued his training already under the guidance of Gennady Baimeyev , his younger brother Konstantin Baimeyev. Since the mid-1970s, the athlete has his main victories at the all-Union and international levels. In 1976, Oleg won the Dan Kolov International Tournament and was the first Buryat wrestler to fulfill the coveted standard of the international class master of sports in freestyle wrestling, becoming a member of the USSR national team.

In 1979, he won the Tbilisi International Tournament, which is called a small world championship among wrestlers. And in the same year Oleg Alekseev won his most significant victories in his sports career - he won the European Championship in the weight category up to 82 kg, in the finals he defeated the strong Hungarian Istvan Kovacs . In the same year, he won first place in the team standings of the World Cup in Toledo (USA). He is awarded the title of Honored Master of Sports of the USSR .

Coaching career

Having finished his sports career, he completely switched to coaching and as such prepared many wrestlers, the most successful of which was Sergey Zambalov . Under the leadership of Oleg Alekseev Sergey won the USSR Championship in freestyle wrestling in 1990 . For this achievement he was awarded the title of Honored Trainer of the RSFSR .

The name of Oleg Aleksandrovich Alekseev is the name of the modern sports complex in the village of Ust-Orda [1] .

He died suddenly on July 31, 2015 [2] .
