Biography
Born May 1, 1902 in the city of Alchevsk . At 15, he volunteered for the Red Army in the battalion commanded by Parkhomenko .
After graduating from the Civil Engineering Department of the Kharkov Institute of Technology , he worked in a number of organizations in Kharkov . From 1930 to 1934 - at the All-Ukrainian Research Institute of Structures. Since 1934 - at the Kharkov Civil Engineering Institute , Dean of the Faculty of Architecture. In 1943 - 1944 he was engaged in the design and construction of bridges across the Dnieper and Tisu .
In 1944, Nikolai Plekhov moved to Kiev , in 1948 he became rector of the Kiev Civil Engineering Institute [1] , at the same time he heads the Department of Architectural Structures. In 1953 he defended his thesis. And in 1954 he was transferred to the Council of Ministers of the Ukrainian SSR and appointed head of the Department of Architecture, while Plekhov did not leave KISI, but continued to work on creating a three-dimensional block housing construction. When in September 1951 the architect Joseph Carakis was far-fetched and groundlessly accused of cosmopolitanism and dismissed as a result of the falsified accusation, Nikolai Plekhov did not even honor I. Karakis, who had been working with him for a couple of decades, and handed over the dismissal note in connection with the “decrease load ”through an accountant.
Since 1957, Nikolai Dmitrievich was appointed director of the Research Institute of Building Structures (NIIIBK), and in 1958 - a corresponding member of the Academy of Construction and Architecture of the Ukrainian SSR . In 1966, Nikolai Plekhov received the academic title of professor .
He died on January 9, 1969 . He was buried in Kiev at the city cemetery "Berkovtsy" (plot number 31).
