" Boyfriend " is Canadian singer Justin Bieber's first single from his third studio album Believe . He led iTunes charts in 32 countries around the world, and a video on a song on his YouTube channel received 61 million views in a month ^[1] .

Content

History

The single was written and produced by Mike Posner , Matthew Masto and Mason Levy . Bieber explained that the track will surprise people differently because it contains a musical departure from his previous material. The fragment "Boyfriend" was presented at the Ellen DeGeneres show on March 1, 2012. On the same day, the song was announced as a single. A cover appeared on March 19, 2012, and a single was released on March 26, 2012 ^[2] .

“Boyfriend” is a mix of R&B and hip hop music. According to Mark Hogan from Spin magazine , one can hear the influence of the song “Party” performed by Beyoncé , “Till the World Ends” by Britney Spears and “If” Janet Jackson ^[3] in the lyrics. Billboard's Andrew Hump wrote that Boyfriend is reminiscent of the Girlfriend of 'N Sync in some places, as well as songs from Farrell Williams and Asher 's early work ^[4] .
