Biography
In the 2003 NHL Draft, Dustin Brown was selected under the general 13th number by the Los Angeles Kings Club. He played his first NHL game on October 9, 2003, against the Detroit Red Wings .
He spent the 2004/05 season at the Los Angeles Kings Farm Club Manchester Monarks , playing in the American Hockey League . In the 2005/06 season, he entrenched in the main team. The following season he became one of the most active players in the team. Brown's star season was the 2007/08 season, in which he became the team's top scorer with 33 goals.
On October 26, 2007, Brown signed a $ 19 million contract with the Los Angeles Kings. Brown is contracted to the Kings until the end of the 2013/14 season [2] .
At the 2008 World Championships, he received negative reviews for injuring Finnish striker Jussi Jokinen by applying force to his head [3] .
October 8, 2008 appointed captain of the Los Angeles Kings [4] . Brown, who was 23 years old at the time of his appointment, is the youngest captain in the history of the team, as well as the first Kings captain born in the United States. [four]
January 14, 2010 in the match against Anaheim Ducks scored his 100th goal in the NHL [5] .
In 2012, Brown led the Los Angeles Kings to their first Stanley Cup title. He became the second US team captain to win the Stanley Cup, and Kings the second team from California to win the Cup. For the first time since 2007, the team won the Stanley Cup on their ice. With 8 goals and 12 assists in 20 games, Dustin Brown, along with Angers Kopitar, became the top scorer in the playoffs.
In the 2013/14 season , Los Angeles repeated the success of two years ago by winning the second Stanley Cup. Brown scored the winning goal in overtime for the second match of the final against the New York Rangers . After the second victory, he signed an 8-year contract with the "kings" for $ 47 million.
The following season , the Kings became the first team since 2007 to miss the playoffs after winning the Stanley Cup. [6] Dustin was the worst on the team in terms of utility (-17). In the 2015/16 season, “Los Angeles” was able to return to the playoffs , but took off in the first round, losing in 5 matches to “ San Jose Sharks ”. After an unsuccessful season, Brown was deprived of the captain's armband [7] - Angers Kopitar was appointed the new captain. [8] Thus, Dustin captained 8 years - longer than anyone else in the history of the club.
In the 2016/17 season, Brown scored 36 points, the first time since the 2011/12 season, but this was not enough to make the Kings playoffs. In the 2017/18 season, he returned to the first link to Angers Kopitar and scored 30 points earlier than half the season. He played his 1,000 match with the Los Angeles Kings on December 22, 2017 in a home match against Colorado Avalanche . He was recognized as the first star, scoring a winning puck in overtime. [9]
