Biography
She was married to graphic artist Viktor Shchapov. In 1974, together with her second husband, writer Eduard Limonov , she emigrated from the USSR. Subsequently, she married Count Gianfranco de Carli and received Italian citizenship.
Elena Schapova is the prototype of the main character of Limonov’s novel “ It's Me, Eddie ”. In 1984, in New York, she published the book “It's Me, Elena” (reprinted in Moscow in 2008), which became a response to the book of her ex-husband.
She starred in a cameo role in the film " Spring Water " based on the novel by Ivan Turgenev .
